Looking to take your creative expression to the next level? Creative Vision Photo Workshops are designed to challenge you to reach new heights with your nature photography. Join Creative Vision instructors Ian Plant and Joseph Rossbach on an intensive, multi-day field and classroom instructional workshop that will help you create photographs you've always dreamed of making.

This workshop is based in Moab, Utah, and visits Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, which contain some of the most breathtaking scenery in the United States. Full of hundreds of natural arches, slick rock canyons, balanced rocks, and wild vistas, the dynamic forces of wind, water and geologic upheaval have created a landscape of extraordinary beauty. This five day workshop will explore the very best these locations have to offer.

Ian and Joe will teach a variety of techniques—both in the field and in the classroom—that will allow you to advance both your technical skills and artistic vision. We focus on a number of professional field techniques to help you create dramatic and powerful nature images, including:

• Working with dramatic light, including sunrise and sunset;
• The fundamentals of powerful compositions;
• Long exposure techniques for incorporating time and motion in your photographs;
• Night photography including star trails, static star field shots, and light painting; and
• Abstract techniques for creating artistic photographs.

We’ll also teach you a number of professional “digital darkroom” secrets as well. Our hands-on intensive seminars—held during the middle of the day when the light is not conducive for photography—will teach you the fundamentals of image processing, and allow you to master important techniques including:

• Working with adjustment layers;
• Layer masking and image blending techniques;
• Making difficult selections;
• Color management; and
• Special effects techniques used for artistic expression.

In addition, we'll explore a number of artistic philosophies that will help you find your own personal vision:

• "Dreamscapes" - Ian will teach his methods for creating Dreamscapes, which are images that straddle the border between photography and fantasy. Ian will help you master light, composition, and special techniques including night photography, light painting and extreme wide angle landscapes.

• "Impressions of Nature" - Joe will take you on a visual journey and teach you how to see, feel and interpret the natural world. Not only will Joe focus heavily on the small, over-looked details of the landscape, but he will also share with you many of his special techniques for creating abstract images, as well as advanced composition and exposure techniques that will help you begin to fully express your photographic vision.
