The Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness
is one of the most stunning places to photograph fall color
in the United States, and few people know if like Ian Plant.
Ian is an Adirondack 46er (having climbed the highest peaks
in the Adirondacks), and has completed the 130-mile long
Northville-Placid Trail cutting through the heart of the
Adirondack wilderness. He returns there regularly to
photograph this stunning landscape.
Join Ian on a four-day
tour of some of the Adirondack's more accessible fall scenic
hot spots! During the workshop you will learn a variety of
landscape photography techniques, and get many stunning fall
color images.
an will teach a variety
of techniques—both
in the field and
in the classroom—that
will allow you to advance both your technical skills and
artistic vision. We'll
focus on a number of professional field techniques to help
you create dramatic and powerful nature images, including:
• Working with dramatic light, including sunrise and sunset;
• The fundamentals of powerful compositions;
• Long exposure techniques for incorporating time and motion
in your photographs;
• Night photography including star trails, static star field
shots, and light painting; and
• Abstract techniques for creating artistic photographs.
We’ll also discuss a number of professional “digital
darkroom” secrets as well, teaching you the
fundamentals of image processing allowing you to master
important techniques including:
• Working with adjustment layers;
• Layer masking and image blending techniques;
• Making difficult selections;
• Color management; and
• Special effects techniques used for artistic expression.
Tuition includes field and
classroom instruction, guiding, and image critique. Lodging, transportation, meals,
and entrance fees are the responsibility of participants.
